Nowadays finding the right education pathway is crucial for students to begin their career post-graduation.

At Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), students will find that the university offers a plethora of tools and opportunities that can help to prepare for employment.

APU’s efforts in preparing its graduates ready for employment has resulted in a 100% employability rate, based on the 2018 and 2019 Graduate Tracer Study by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.  

Its close partnership with industry players is one of the reasons why APU students are able to adapt to the working environment smoothly.

They provide advice on the curriculum, arrange for industrial visits and internships, and even offer opportunities to work on projects together.

How APU Prepares Students for Employment

APU Career Centre has many activities to get students prepared for life post-graduation.

They help match students with job openings, arrange for interviews, as well as conducting workshops and seminars on relevant topics.

For instance, APU pool resources with KPMG & Deloitte on a social skill workshop on how to enhance employability.

The workshop focused on three key areas: personal branding, effective communication, and work etiquette.

In other collaborations, APU reached out to Tata Consultancy Services to touch on what organisations look for when hiring new talents.

Similar practices also include the CEO/CTO Series where they feature notable entrepreneurs and industry leaders for greater industry insights, tips and exposure.

Core behaviours such as passion, versatility, resilience, and resourcefulness are among the essential knowledge that were highlighted to the students during the session.

APU Career Centre and APU Corporate Training also worked with the Ministry of Higher Education as well as Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (YPPB) in expanding students’ skills in digital development.

Through this partnership, students will be able to enhance their knowledge and skill set via vital seminars arrangement, training, research, and more.

For industry giants like AWS and Microsoft, their partnership with APU focused on providing support in curriculum, faculty professional development, and also certification.

The education materials are up to date and give students a clear understanding of the industry’s trends and needs.

During the pandemic, APU conducted series of workshops virtually to ensure students are prepared for employment.

Structured Virtual Internship Programme, Virtual Global Talent Partner, Hackaton and Sustainathon by TCS are some of the workshops and programmes conducted.

 

 

How APU Links Students to Employers

One of the most awaited major events for all APU students and graduates is the Mega Career Fair, whereby renowned companies from Malaysia as well as abroad provide greater employment opportunities to graduating students.

Despite the pandemic, APU via its career centre managed to increase its industrial partnership to more than 4,000 companies including global partnership from more than 134 countries.

These companies range from British American Tobacco, Shopee, Top Glove, Sime Darby, DELL, and Tech Mahendra to name a few.

Throughout the event, students were able to meet the recruiters, submit resumes, attend job interviews and even secure a job on the spot!

Aside from that, APU also work closely with its industrial partners to provide students with extensive networking opportunities through projects, industrial visits, and internships.

In School of Design and Media programmes, the modules are designed to expose students to related industries via its various industrial partnership with Lemon Sky, Cult Career and many more.

For School of Computing and Technology and School of Engineering students, they will get the latest updates through APU’s partnership with prominent industry players such as Bank Negara, TNB, Microsoft, IEM, Fusionex. 

APU students also will have the opportunity to work with more than 3,000 companies on their final year projects as well as securing an internship.

During the pandemic period, APU organised virtual career fairs, workshops, talks, certification training programmes, and other related activities. 

The goal was to continuously provide students with an effective and conducive learning development.

APU’s curriculum, partnerships, various resources and approaches dedication have helped its students to be highly employable.

Whether it’s imparting knowledge or putting theory into practice, APU will ensure that its students are fully supported and meeting the industry long term demand.
