    Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) and South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE International) are pre-university pathway programmes that allow students to enter Australian universities within a year after SPM or IGCSE.

    What is AUSMAT and SACE International

    AUSMAT and SACE International are pre-university programmes recognised by Australian universities, such as the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney and the University of Queensland.

    AUSMAT and SACE International both have projects, assignments, and lab work throughout the year and a final exam.

    SACE International is 70% coursework and 30% exams while AUSMAT is an even split of 50% coursework and exams.

    What’s My AUSMAT/SACE International Pathway?

    You’ll need 5 credits in your SPM/O Level, including English and Mathematics to enter any AUSMAT/SACE International programme.

    Tip:

    English as a Second Language (ELS) is a mandatory subject in most universities.

    Intake and Duration

    The most popular intakes are in January and March and will last 10-12 months. April, August and September intakes are also available at some universities.  

    ATAR

    The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is awarded to you at the end of your course.

    Your ATAR score is the total of 4 of your highest scoring subjects and 50% of your 5th highest scoring subject.

    ATAR percentage scores allow you to compare your performance with your peers. For example, an ATAR percentage score of 99.5% means you’re in the top 0.05% of your intake!
