In 2018, the Taylor’s University School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events comfortably jumped to the 21st spot from a QS world ranking of 29 in only one year.

Partnership with Industry Experts Through Practical Training and Networking

a. Real-World Training and Employment With Leading Partners
Taylor’s introduced the Student Employment Programme (STEP) to prepare students for a supervisory level role when they enter the job market.
As of 2018, 91% of students were employed through this programme with top industry employers such as Marriott International, Hilton Worldwide, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, and more.
To better prepare students for employment, they were put through the test during the Hotel Takeover, a joint even with the Holiday Inn Express.
Students were placed in various roles within the organisation to experience and handle real-life situations with actual customers with minimal supervision.

b. GM Networking Dinner
The GM Networking Dinner is an exclusive forum with industry leaders to discuss trends that are shaping the hospitality and tourism industry.
The event allows students the opportunity to network with more than 30 General Managers and Vice-Presidents from hotels, resorts and convention centres across Malaysia.
c. Industry Integrated Teaching Programme
Experts are invited to share their knowledge and experience during campus visits.
Through this programme they are able to develop their capabilities on conducting research using real data.

Dual Award Recognition by University of Toulouse Jean Jaures
The school offers a dual award degree for its degree and diploma programmes with the University of Toulouse (UOT) and the Academie de Toulouse (ADT) in France respectively.
The highly sought-after degree from University of Toulouse even gets more than 600 applicants annually with only 80 students being accepted!
Syllabus Teaches Students to Adapt to Different Markets
The syllabus enables students to have a global mindset with a focus on the South East Asian market.
This exposure is critical as students need the ability to adapt to different cultural nuances to deliver world-class services.
The syllabus is also constantly reviewed by industrial experts to ensure students have the latest industrial knowledge and skills.
Heavy emphasis is placed on practical knowledge with 60% on practical assessment and 40% on exams.

Students are exposed to the latest guest management systems, Opera and Delphi, to gain a competitive edge with leading hotels around the world.
Tourism Innovation Labs
The Tourism Rooms provide a digital setup with the latest technology in tourism management.
The labs specialise in airline reservation, travel revenue and destination management systems.
Hotel Suites
The hotel suites are designed for the demonstration, training and practice of essential daily hospitality operations and management.
Students are able to take part in the dynamic environment of hotel management.
Committed to Research and Development
The School prioritises research work within its own facilities, the Centre for Research and Innovation in Tourism (CRiT).
The centre facilitates research in core areas in the culinary, hospitality and tourism industries.
To date, the school has contributed several key findings in the LIA scientific projects and the Asian Food Barometer research.
The centre is currently studying the eating and lifestyle habits of Asia through the Asian Food Barometer research.
