Biological Sciences
If you are interested in studying life itself, then the University of East Anglia’s Biological Sciences could be your next destination! The university is a world leader in biological research, and students will benefit from cutting-edge research in molecular, cellular, and whole-organism biology conducted at the university.
Students will have a first year that covers all aspects of science, including mathematics, statistics and chemistry, to ensure that they do not jump to a specialisation prematurely. From year 2 onwards, students have the freedom to choose their specialist interests within biological sciences.
Students will then be able to develop their specific scientific interests through independent research in their final year. Here, students will complete a substantial research project of a field of interest.
Students will have the science analytical facilities available on campus for their learning and research. The facilities comprise of 7 instrument platforms:

Medicine Courses

Medicine at the University of East Anglia is offered at the Norwich Medical School, a thriving student-centred learning environment, where students and staff share the same aim of making a positive difference in people’s lives.
The course focuses on relating learning to real life, using scenarios and clinical problems from patients, with an emphasis on developing clinical experience and theoretical knowledge from the start. For that reason, students will be exposed to clinical practice from Week 1!
In the classroom, lectures are conducted in small groups, focusing on problem-based learning. Students also have access to the anatomy lab and practice dissections on different specimens and models. This is complemented by teaching in primary care, where students will meet patients.
Students will also experience placements early on in their studies and will be placed in a varied range of clinical settings, in acute hospital wards, specialist units, and general practice in a secondary care role. Here, students will attend ward-based sessions, outpatient clinics, and operating theatres and learn directly from experienced clinicians.
Students’ learning will also be bolstered by the facilities that are provided in the Norwich Medical School, which includes anatomy suites, the Biomedical Research Centre, and the Bob Champion Research and Education Building.
Computer Science
The computing industry is rapidly growing, and so is the popularity of the computer science course at the University of East Anglia. The course here instils students with the passion of what computing can contribute to various industries.
The first 2 years of all the computer science courses are identical, allowing students to transfer easily to a major of their interest in the final year. The majors offered at the university comprise traditional majors such as Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, and modern majors such as Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security.
Students will learn Java, Python, JavaScript, C, and C++ while exploring the underlying principles of the subject. Students will complete their studies with knowledge from a wide range of backgrounds in programming and mathematics, and the courses are flexible enough for students to achieve a strong understanding of computing by the end of Year 1.

At the Norwich Business School, students learn every aspect of accounting and finance, integrated with business principles. Students learn the core business principles in Year 1, before learning how to understand, interpret, and act on financial accounts of any business.
Students can also take on advanced modules such as Corporate Reporting, Advanced Management Accounting, Auditing and Assurance, and Personal and Corporate Taxation, and these options are available in Year 1! Students can then take on optional modules that best suit their interests and aspirations in the following 2 years.
Norwich Business School is located in a region that has a thriving business innovation and enterprise community. As such, students of the University of East Anglia will be exposed to key current issues for industry and employers. Students can also get the opportunity to spend 9-12 months in industry during their 3rd year, with big names such as Intel, Oracle, Aldi, and Crown Commercial Service.
Students studying Accounting and Finance will have access to the NBS Fintech Lab, which features 12 Bloomberg terminals with real-time information on the financial industry. Students will be using the same tools used by traders and analysts worldwide who analyse data from real banks, companies, and governments.
Apart from learning in the classroom, there is a strong emphasis on boosting CVs. Students will have Bloomberg training integrated into their curriculum, receiving training in class. Students can also work towards obtaining the Bloomberg Market Concept (BMC) certificate, which is highly valued by their future employers.
