The Stephen Young Institute is a space where students can pursue their dreams of enterprise while learning.

The University of Strathclyde is home to one of the pioneering business schools in Scotland. The Strathclyde Business School is the first in the country to receive the Triple Crown accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA, and is also the only business school to be given the Small Business Charter Award

The University of Strathclyde’s School of Architecture is one of the oldest and largest architectural departments in the UK. It is also internationally recognised as one of the most socially active schools in tackling real urban concerns. 

Students will have the privilege to conduct their learning in two purpose-built studio classrooms. 

  • 1 drop-in studio for collaboration works and multidisciplinary projects.
  • 1 studio dedicated to design teaching.

Apart from the classrooms, the school also has workshops for its architecture students. The workshops contain various hand and portable power tools for traditional model making. 

Another unique feature of the Architecture course is the source of reference the students will get from the university. Besides the main library, the School of Architecture has a dedicated reference library with over 5,000 volumes on the architecture discipline.

The Engineering Faculty of the University of Strathclyde is the largest in Scotland, home to over 6,000 students. The university has also completed a GBP 40 million refurbishment for its facilities, where students can benefit from equipment ranging from microscopes, and continuous reactors to supercomputers. 

Students will have a more practical curriculum, with projects being a core of chemical engineering education, which helps students build their technical know-how. Students will undergo mini-projects throughout their degree, and 2 major projects:

  • Year 3: Students will undergo a mini-design project on the aspect of plant and process design
  • Year 4: Students will undergo a chemical engineering semester-long project. 

The opportunities to continue honing their technical skills outside of the classroom are endless at the University of Strathclyde. Students may also get the opportunity to go on work placements in the UK or abroad, with companies like BP or work on projects in research groups across Europe via the Erasmus scheme!
