3. Multimedia Design Course Pathways & Entry Requirements

There are 2 pathways one can consider when studying a Multimedia Design course.

Pathway 1: SPM/O-Levels ➔ Pre-University/Foundation ➔ Multimedia Design Degree

One pathway towards Multimedia Design studies is to enter a Pre-University course (A-Level, SACE, STPM) or a Foundation course offered by the university of your choice.

As an SPM / O-Level leaver, the entry requirement is 5 credits to enter Pre-U or Foundation.

A Pre-University course or Foundation typically takes 1 to 2 years to complete and will qualify you to enter into a Degree in Multimedia Design.

A Bachelor in Multimedia Design may come under different names, depending on the university, such as Creative Multimedia, Digital Media, Design Communication, Interactive Media, and so forth. However, you need to scrutinize the syllabus to know what you will be learning. But don’t worry. Uni Enrol’s counsellors are here to give you clarity!

A Multimedia Design Degree will take 3 years to complete. Here are the general requirements to enter with qualifications from popular pre-university courses or a foundation course:

Pathway 2: SPM/O-Levels ➔ Diploma ➔ Multimedia Design Degree

Studying for a Diploma in Multimedia Design is a good option for students who may have a limited budget or want to start their career as soon as they graduate.

As an SPM / O-Level leaver, the entry requirement is 3 credits to enter a Diploma in Multimedia Design.

A Diploma takes about 2 years to complete depending on the university offering.

Continuing with a Multimedia Design Degree teaches a Diploma student advanced skills and generally puts them through various projects and industrial attachment for real-life experience. You get to meet industry professionals and also future employers.

If you already have a Diploma qualification, you only need to enrol for 2 years to complete a Degree course with a minimum entry requirement of CGPA 2.0 for your Diploma.
