Advanced Accounting
Looking to complete a Master’s degree in accounting with undergraduate fees?
The integrated course combines undergraduate and Master’s level study in one four-year course. If you are happy with graduating with just a degree, you are also given an alternative to exit after 3 years, with the university awarding you an Accounting Bachelor’s degree!
Studying Advanced Accounting at Queen’s University Belfast is popular due to its exemptions from major examinations after completing the course. For example, students who graduate with an Advanced Accounting degree from the university are exempted from Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI)’s CAP1 and CAP2 examinations and 9 papers from the ACCA.
While it doesn’t fully exempt you from all of ACCA’s papers (you’d have to take some compulsory modules!), that means a fast track to the workforce!
Through the Advanced Accounting course at the university, students will undergo an integrated paid work-based placement in their final year. Students will be able to gain real-life experience through strong industrial partners such as Bank of Ireland, BDO, Deloitte, EY, and more. Apart from the work experience, these industrial partners also come in occasionally to give students insight and prepare them for their future careers.
As mentioned above, the course is accredited by ACCA, which will allow graduates to practice anywhere that accepts the accreditation (which is all around the world!).
Medicine Studies

Queen’s University Belfast’s School of Medicine, Dentistry, and Biomedical Sciences is the only medical school in Northern Ireland! Students already benefit from this, as well as from the ease of access to high-quality clinical teaching and world-class researchers who are a part of the faculty.
That probably explains why it’s the 1st in the UK for career prospects (Times Good University Guide 2024). Let’s dive into more reasons!
Within the curriculum, students practice working with patients as early as their first year, further developing clinical communications and examination skills through the university’s Patients as Partners initiative before moving on to actual patient contact.
Students will learn with cadavers early on in the newly upgraded state-of-the-art modern Dissection Suite, fully equipped with touch-screen monitors and PCs next to each student’s workstation. Apart from that, students get to enjoy the all-new KN Cheung SK Chin InterSim Centre, equipped with facilities used by professionals in acute and emergency care, chronic illness, paediatrics, and mental health just to name a few.
Students will also benefit from a lot of practical immersion, through placements with over 150 hospitals and general practices in Northern Ireland. Students are required to do 2 placements within Belfast and at least 2 more elsewhere in Northern Ireland during their 3rd to 5th years. Students can also opt for a placement abroad through the Clinical Elective module!
The Medicine degree at Queen’s University Belfast is accredited by the General Medical Council (UK), as well as by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC), allowing students to practice abroad and locally upon graduation.
Pharmacy Studies
The School of Pharmacy at Queen’s University Belfast is known as a leading centre for Pharmacy teaching and research in the UK. This pretty much sums up why they are #35 in the world for Pharmacy and Pharmacology, according to the QS World University Rankings 2024.
Classes are conducted in medium to large groups by teaching staff who are practicing pharmacists. The University also has interprofessional learning for pharma students, they will work together with nursing and medical students to address real-world problems in healthcare. They will also learn clinical skills and attributes that they can use in multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
The multidisciplinary practice at the university will be conducted through simulation. Just like the medical students, the KN Cheung SK Chin InterSim Centre is also available for Pharmacy students, where they will find hospital pharmaceutical settings to practice in, apart from working with medical and nursing students on various simulations at the centre.
Apart from the interdisciplinary simulations, students studying Pharmacy at Queen’s University Belfast also have a Pharmacy Practice Unit that has been recently upgraded and specialised laboratories dedicated to nanotechnology research and medical engineering.

Business Management

The university’s Business School is a world-renowned faculty with its courses ranking in the top 250 in the world (Times Higher Education Rankings). The Queen’s Business School resides in Riddel Hall, a purpose-built building with state-of-the-art technology, large lecture theatres, conference rooms, boardrooms, and a 120-seat Harvard-style lecture theatre!
Business Management students can access Bloomberg software for financial news, data, and analytics, a staple in many financial institutions. To enhance the study experience, students also benefit from the FinTrU Trading Room, an interactive learning environment, and will be equipped with industry-leading databases from Bloomberg, S&P Capital, and Compustat.
Queen’s University of Belfast ensures that key elements of business management; namely partnership and real-world practices, are integrated properly into the course. Students have the Student-Managed Fund (SMF), a real money investment portfolio of GBP 60,000 that they can manage, and it is one of only a few universities in the UK and Ireland to offer this experience to its students that enhances employability.
A dedicated Careers and Work Placement team is vital, particularly for Business students, and that’s one that Queen’s University Belfast can provide. The team has built strong relationships with many of the industry’s big players (EY, KPMG, PwC, Google, and many more!), who give students masterclasses, assist in the school’s curriculum, and give students exposure to their future employers.
What’s more the course has a placement year integrated! During the student’s third year, they will spend 9-12 months with a business to build experience and gain a competitive edge. Students can also choose “Year in Enterprise”, where students start their own business instead of a placement.
