Initially known as the Manchester Mechanics Institute in 1824, the main purpose was educating artisans and skilled workers in the scientific principles of their trade. The institution expanded and merged with several colleges to become Manchester Polytechnic in 1970 before officially becoming the Manchester Metropolitan University in 1992!

Law Studies

One of the reasons why the subject is so popular in Manchester Metropolitan University is the state-of-the-art facilities provided for the students to hone their skills. Students can use the moot courtroom to practice, and even record their advocacy sessions to review and improve their performance.
Studying in Manchester means students will learn in the largest legal hub outside of London. The city has law firms specialising in all aspects from corporate and commercial law to employment and family law. Manchester also has one of the UK’s largest law societies; the Manchester Law Society, dating back to 1838, who always organise events and educational initiatives.
The university also provides real-life skills training via the Support Through Court project, where students can engage with pro-bono work. Through this initiative, students will work with qualified solicitors providing free services to locals. You’ve heard that right. The Manchester School of Architecture at Manchester Metropolitan University is ranked 5th worldwide according to the QS World Best Universities 2024!
The course is an innovative collaboration between Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester. With more than 100 years of experience, this collaboration allows students to use the workshops and studios across both campuses. Facilities within the school include maker spaces, photography and editing suites, print workshops, and computer-aided machines.
The Manchester School of Architecture employs a very hands-on approach to the discipline, and students will be thrust into a variety of projects to work on as early as their first year. Students will also be able to benefit from a hybrid teaching method of traditional lecture-based teaching with workshop and design studio sessions.
Students will also benefit from studying in Manchester, a city with vibrant, contemporary, and innovative architecture. Alumni and students of the university have also involved themselves in the designs of some of the city’s buildings, as well as the regeneration of historical buildings within the city.
Upon completion of the degree, students will receive one certificate, with the crest of both collaborative universities. Malaysian students will still have to complete Parts II and III of the graduate architect examinations prepared by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia after completing their degree.
Sports Science Courses

Manchester, as a city, is vibrant in its sports scene. This also comes as a great opportunity to learn the sports science discipline at Manchester Metropolitan University!
The degree covers the key disciplines of biomechanics, physiology, and psychology. Students then can develop specialist skills based on their strengths and weaknesses.
