MAHSA MBBS (Medicine)

MAHSA is highly popular in Malaysia for its healthcare courses, particularly the Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).

As an MBBS student, the first 2 years will be spent learning on the MAHSA campus with some exposure clinical medicine at Hospital Tanjung Karang. The next 3 years is the clinical phase and are almost entirely hospital and clinic based. The hospitals you will be posted to are Hospital Sungai Buloh, Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Hospital Tanjung Karang. Clinical training is held at Klinik Kesihatan AU2, Rawang Perdana, Taman Ehsan and Taman Medan to give you exposure to patients from all kinds of background.

You undergo rotational postings of 2 to 8 weeks in the disciplines outlined in the programme structure. At the end of Year 5, you must pass the Final Professional Examination.

In addition, you will be tested regularly in Problem-based learning (PBL) sessions to work through basic science of the disease and the identification of symptoms, signs and interpreting a variety of laboratory tests to develop rational differential diagnoses.

You will gain plenty of exposure to treat real patients as a doctor in the making.

The appeal of studying at MAHSA is its extensive investment in facilities and medical technology that allow you to get access to whenever you wish. Check out 2.2 Learning Resources above.

Dentistry is not just about dental hygiene as your oral condition reflects your overall bodily health.

What you will learn integrates biomedical, clinical, and behavioural sciences, with particular emphasis on human anatomy, craniofacial biology, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, human organ systems, associated disease processes, emergency procedures, infection control, oral health diseases, biomaterials, operative dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery, public health and community dentistry make up a large portion of the syllabus.

Skills you acquire from the course include basic dental procedures such as tooth extraction and repair of oral imperfections to complex and complicated procedures such as root canal and prosthodontics treatment. This also extends to preventative care.

Just like the MBBS facilities, there are many dental suites on campus for each student to have ample time to practice.

A functioning clinic on campus also means you will attend to real patients and assist senior doctors to diagnose and treat them.
