1. Introduction

MILA University was formerly known as Manipal International University (MIU). is a multi-disciplinary international university founded by Manipal Education Group India, which has a rich experience of more than 60 years in the higher education industry in Asia. MIU was first established in 2011 in Malaysia and has since received investments close to USD 200 million to provide the best campus experience and facilities for students.

In August 2023, Shen Zheng International Trade (Hainan) Co. Ltd. wholly acquired Manipal International University (MIU) and rebranded its name to MILA University. The company also operates Haikou Institute of Economics, a renowned private university in China. Haikou has been providing vocational and college education for more than 20 years and caters to over 30,000 students and 2,000 faculty members. Now the education group intends to spread its wings to Malaysia and serve students in the neighbouring region as well.

Continuing from MIU, the university currently offers a variety of programmes in business management, computer science, engineering and biotechnology. However, in the next few years, MILA has big plans to further expand and transform the current campus into a university town.
