Xiamen University Malaysia Campus Tour | Campus Unboxing

When people think of a university setting, “romantic” might not be the first word that comes to mind. However, hosts Chloe and Desmond from Uni Enrol recently set out to test this very reputation during an engaging Xiamen University Malaysia campus tour.

When you are ready, let us unbox Xiamen University Malaysia at Jalan Sunsuria, Bandar Sunsuria, 43900 Sepang, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia.

The Xiamen University Malaysia campus is immediately striking, blending natural beauty with modern student facilities. The tour kicks off by highlighting the university’s stunning architectural landmarks, notably the legendary Furong Bridge and the picturesque Water Concert Hall, which certainly live up to the campus’s romantic reputation.

However, student life isn’t just about serene walks; the vibrant Multipurpose Hall serves as the ultimate gathering spot where students frequently come together to play badminton and simply hang out.

For fitness enthusiasts, the campus offers top-tier athletic facilities. Desmond showcases a well-equipped gym that is highly accessible—students can walk in without any prior booking and use the equipment until 10:00 PM. Just steps away is a massive Olympic-sized swimming pool. To ensure student safety, the pool opens at 4:00 PM when a dedicated lifeguard comes on duty.

Beyond the sports facilities, the top floor of this complex offers a breathtaking vantage point. Students can take a break from their workouts to enjoy sweeping views of the lush campus surroundings and even spot aeroplanes flying in the distance.

The crown jewel of the tour, however, is the university library. Chloe guides viewers through this massive, high-ceilinged sanctuary. Bathed in natural light and offering panoramic views of the surrounding nature, the library provides a tranquil and visually stunning environment for studying. As the narrator notes, every corner of the library is so aesthetically pleasing that any photo taken there could serve as wallpaper.

Wrapping up the visit, Chloe invites prospective students and viewers to suggest other universities they would like to see unboxed next. With its blend of scenic beauty and excellent facilities, this institution undoubtedly offers a memorable student experience.

History, Sports, and Student Life at Xiamen University Malaysia Campus

Welcome back to part two of the campus tour at Xiamen University Malaysia. In this instalment, Uni Enrol hosts Chloe and Desmond as they dive deeper into the student experience by exploring three distinct areas of the beautiful Xiamen University Malaysia campus.

First, the tour steps back in time at the Jiageng Study Room, an area that exudes a distinct museum-like atmosphere. This space meticulously records the founder’s school-running spirit and features charming interactive spots throughout. For instance, visitors can pick up an antique telephone in the corner to hear a simulated voice recording of the founder, Tan Kah Kee. Adjacent to this is the Jiageng Post Office, which represents an era before banks existed, showing where overseas students would once send letters and remit money back to their hometowns.

Next, the hosts showcase the extensive outdoor sports facilities available to students. The campus is fully equipped with a basketball court, tennis courts, volleyball courts, and a large football field. When students need a break from the heat, there are plenty of trees providing shade around the courts. After working up a sweat, students can easily head to the nearby mini-market to grab a drink. Though small, the mart has everything a student might need, from daily necessities to printing services for study materials.

Finally, the unboxing reveals the student hostels, which boast incredibly high value for money. The accommodations consist of twin-sharing rooms starting at RM340, a price that includes water but excludes electricity. The university divides these living spaces into two primary types: the higher-density LY Block and the lower-rise Block D. With such a rich blend of history, active lifestyle amenities, and comfortable living spaces, it’s clear why the hosts conclude that this university is simply “too cool”.

Exploring Traditional Chinese Medicine at Xiamen University Malaysia

In the third instalment of this campus tour, the journey through the Xiamen University Malaysia campus reveals a highly unique academic offering: the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) department. Xiamen University Malaysia is quite notable for offering this specialised program, proving that TCM is no longer just a traditional interest for the older generation, but a modern health practice actively embraced by younger students eager to learn about wellness.

The tour is guided by the Head of the TCM Department, who welcomes viewers into the TCM Clinical Skill Learning Centre. Inside, students benefit from a simulated teaching clinic that is run by the students themselves. This setup perfectly bridges the gap between learning basic theory in the classroom and gaining hands-on clinical practice experience. Here, students practice administering various traditional therapies, including internal medicine consultations, acupuncture, Tui Na (massage), and Gua Sha (scraping).

Addressing common misconceptions, the narrator highlights that while TCM has thousands of years of history, it is not without a scientific basis; in fact, researchers actively study and elevate these passed-down therapies. To aid in this scientific learning, the department boasts an impressive collection of over 300 herb and medicine specimens, allowing students to study the specific efficacy and clinical applications of each treatment closely.

The comprehensive TCM degree program spans a total of five years. For their final year, students have the exciting opportunity to fly to China to complete a clinical internship at the medical college of Xiamen University.
