MBBS Course

Students who plan to study healthcare in the Northern region of Malaysia can shortlist QIU’s Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course.

The MBBS curriculum was structured to align with the standards and requirements of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).

The USMLE is a three-step examination process towards attaining medical licensure in the United States which will qualify you to work and practice in the country.

You get early clinical exposure during Year 1 & 2 through clinical and communication skills training. From Year 2 onwards you will be posted to different hospital departments based on different learning disciplines.

On top of the hands-on experience, your learning journey will be intertwined with case-based learning, research projects, more advanced diagnostic and treatment concepts, and examinations.

Here’s a video to shed light on the hands-on exposure you will be given at a partner hospital and at the campus.

QIU’s MBBS is fully accredited by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). It is also accepted by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates of the USA and the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom.

Pharmacy Course

Students have 2 choices – whether to complete QIU’s 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) in Malaysia or a 5-year programme with completion in the United States.

QIU partners with Pacific University, Oregon, USA to create a path for undergraduate students to pursue a Pharmacy degree in the United States.

You will complete the first 2 years in QIU and thereafter spend 3 years at Pacific University to procure its Doctor of Pharmacy degree course with a certification from Pacific University. This course is fully accredited by the American Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education

As a Pharmacist in-training at QIU, you will also gain these real world exposure:

Off-campus community engagement. Consultation and prescription at old folks home.

Other highlights about QIU’s Pharmacy degree:

  • Accredited by the Malaysian Pharmacy Board.
  • 100% of lecturers have worked as pharmacists, >70% with Phd and >60% are registered pharmacists.
  • 20 weeks attachment to hospitals, clinics, and community/industrial pharmacies
  • QIU is the only private university in Malaysia with a fully equipped Pharmaceutical Production Pilot Plant.
  • Patient management at the on-campus pharmacy centre is carried out on a monthly basis with supervision from the lecturers.

Accounting and Finance Studies

An interesting highlight about QIU’s 4-year Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) degree is that upon completion you will also gain a certification from ACCA.

During Year 3 and 4 of the course, you will take 2 ACCA papers each year (4 in total) to qualify you for the ACCA certification upon your graduation plus a few years of working experience.

This is a fast track route where you will receive dual certification from Quest International University and ACCA.

The benefit of completing all papers during your degree period is that you can tap into the resources of Quest and guidance from your lecturers to prepare for the exams. The downside is that your study schedule will need to be managed well.

However, it is still fine if you are not able to complete all 4 papers before graduation. You may complete the remaining after at your own pace.

Here is Ms. Enithraa, QIU’s ACCA Ambassador sharing her grit and determination in the Bachelor of Accountancy + ACCA programme.

Under the Bachelor of Finance (Hons) degree, you get to experience Malaysian securities market trading simulations and attend various events and seminars hosted by industry organisations such as Bank Negara, Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC) and the Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and more.

The course allows you to specialise in Financial Planning, Banking or Islamic Finance.
