A Clearer Vision: Optometry and Vision Sciences
The tour first dives into the Optometry and Vision Sciences department. While many people assume optometry is simply about prescribing glasses, students at SEGI University learn to comprehensively diagnose eye diseases and ensure overall eye health. The narrator notes that many outside optical shops operate without licensed optometrists, which actually violates the Malaysian Optical Council’s regulations.
To ensure high-quality education and proper licensing, SEGI University is one of the earliest private universities to offer this program and strictly limits its intake to only 60 students per year. Additionally, the campus features its very own on-campus eye clinic. Because this clinic is open to the public, students are able to do clinical rotations and gain practical experience with real-world cases.
