🎨 Step Inside the ECE Simulation Room
To truly understand this Early Childhood Education course in Malaysia, Angel was taken on a tour of UNITAR’s pride and joy: the ECE Simulation Room.
Stepping into this room feels exactly like walking into an actual, fully functional kindergarten! This vibrant, hands-on space is where university students learn how to create and prepare creative learning environments. Because young children come from various backgrounds and have different learning styles such as kinesthetic (hands-on) or visual learners; future educators use this room to practice teaching strategies that cater to everyone’s unique needs.
📚 A Well-Rounded, Global Curriculum
You might remember your own kindergarten days involving the Montessori method, but what systems are actually taught to modern teachers?
Pn. Izawati explained that UNITAR takes a highly well-rounded approach to its curriculum. Students master the national standards, including the National Preschool Curriculum (DSKP/KSPK) for children aged 4 to 6, as well as the Permata Curriculum for early childcare.
But it doesn’t stop there! Students are also exposed to globally recognised educational philosophies, including:
- Montessori
- Reggio Emilia
- Bank Street

🧸 Hands-On Learning: Puppet Shows and Playtime!
Forget boring lectures; this degree is all about interactive fun! ECE students at the UNITAR campus are incredibly active.
They learn creative movements by choreographing dances and discovering how to facilitate creative learning through play. To put their skills to the test, the university frequently invites real preschool children to the campus! The university students get to practice their classroom management and entertainment skills by hosting live puppet shows, drama performances, and interactive games for the visiting kids.
💼 Career Pathways & Real-World Internships
Did you know that the Malaysian government now makes it compulsory for all preschool teachers to hold at least a Diploma in Early Childhood Education?
By pursuing a full Bachelor’s degree, graduates open the door to advanced career opportunities. You can step into roles such as a main class teacher, a senior teacher, or even a preschool principal. For those with a business mindset, it is also the perfect stepping stone to becoming an “edupreneur” and opening your own private kindergarten.
To ensure students are completely ready for the working world, the program wraps up with a comprehensive 16-week internship during their final semester. Students spend 8 weeks gaining hands-on experience at a preschool and another 8 weeks at a nursery, giving them a complete view of the early childhood ecosystem.
