1.1 Background
Swinburne Malaysia is the foreign branch campus of Swinburne University Australia and is located in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. Established in 2000, the Malaysia campus is the only foreign branch campus of Swinburne aside from its 3 other campuses within Melbourne, Australia. Courses offered are identical to those available in Melbourne and graduates are awarded the same certificate as what they would in Australia.
Further expansion work on the campus started in late 2005. The project was wholly funded by the Sarawak Government as it was a collaboration between Swinburne and the state of Sarawak. Today the Swinburne Malaysia campus stands tall in the heart of Kuching city with 12 building blocks dedicated to the academic and personal growth of its students.
Since then, between 2019-2022 another RM50 million has been invested into further transforming the engineering and computing laboratories, research laboratories, teaching and learning spaces, student accommodation, the student hub and cafeteria, as well as the lobby and building foyer.

Location and Surrounding Vibe: Swinburne Kuching Campus is a city campus, located on 16.5 acres of land and surrounded by conveniences such as shopping malls, a hospital, F&B outlets and public amenities.
