1.1 Background
A direct descendant of the Footscray Technical School, the institution was established in 1916. The school adopted an image of the “Door of Opportunity” as a means of expressing to the community that they too can gain an education for the skilled workforce, and raise them out of the ranks of unskilled labourers.
Fast forward 100 years later, the school was formally renamed to Victoria University and is now well known for its award-winning higher education “disruptor”, the VU Block Model, where students can undertake one learning unit at a time, instead of the conventional semester requirements.
The university also offers various courses, which have attracted students locally and abroad.

- Completed in 2022, it is one of the latest campuses under Victoria University.
